The Spirit of the Season:
An Art & Mindfulness Workshop

Join us for the 1st of 4 seasonal art & mindfulness workshops at the Garden Chapel Sanctuary on Sunday, May 17th from 3:00-5:00pm.

Our facilitators Sarah Paulsen and Natalie Baldeón will guide you through nature-themed artmaking via prompted conversations and mindfulness practices. The theme of each session will coincide with seasonal happenings (spring, summer, fall, winter). The primary mediums engaged will be watercolor, gouache, sketching, and acrylic painting. The sessions will be interwoven with mindfulness and grounding practices that promote introspection and healing. By utilizing materials and content that balance depth and levity, these workshops offer new artistic skills, deep reflection, and the opportunity to forge new connections to people and places. This workshop will leave you feeling inspired, grounded, and connected.

Don't miss this opportunity to engage your own creativity through careful observation and reflection of the world around you as the seasons change!

These workshops are free to attend but space is limited, so reserve your spot today by emailing Jennifer, the Program Manager, at Admin@GardenChapelSanctuary.org

Eco-Spiritual Book Club
Rooted: Life at the Crossroads of Science, Nature, and Spirit

Join in our first Eco-Spiritual Book Club of the year on Sunday, June 14th as we read and discuss Rooted: Life at the Crossroads of Science, Nature, and Spirit by Lyanda Lynn Haupt.

Our bodies, thoughts, minds, and spirits are affected by the whole of nature, and they affect this whole in return. In this time of crisis, how can we best live upon our imperiled, beloved earth? Haupt’s book is a brilliant invitation to live with the earth in both simple and profound ways—from walking barefoot in the woods and reimagining our relationship with animals and trees, to examining the very language we use to describe and think about nature. She invokes rootedness as a way of being in concert with the wilderness—and wildness—that sustains humans and all of life.

Please purchase the book on your own, in any format you prefer, or check it out from your local library. We will meet at the Garden Chapel Sanctuary (1040 Dautel Ln) at 5:00pm on June 14th. We will not only share our reflections but also engage in some of the earth-based spiritual practices found in the book together. Light snacks will be provided; feel free to bring something to share too.

Alternate Song Circle graphic.png

We gather each 2nd Saturday morning for a nature-themed community song circle. The monthly facilitator(s) will teach simple, a cappella songs for all to learn and join in. All voices welcome, no previous experience necessary!

These song circles will gather in our newly created "Council Circle" clearing within the nature sanctuary. Please meet in the lower parking lot of Garden Chapel Sanctuary along Dautel Ln. and then follow the short path to the Council Circle.

movement & meditation class 4th wed.png

Through gentle guided movement (yoga & qi gong), awakening and calming breath practices, and simple meditative practice, we will explore questions like: What does your body have to teach you about being calm and grounded? What does your breath have to teach you about being alive? What does nature have to teach us about being and living AS resource? Please bring your own yoga mat and a blanket if you have them.
